How do I define my Market?

Who you serve, the problems you solve, and why people choose you — all in one place.

Updated September 22, 2026 · 2 min read

Quick answer

Go to Market and click "+ Add market information." Work through the 3-step form — your market, customer problems, and positioning — then click "Save market profile." Update it anytime with Edit market.

01

Define your market

Click "+ Add market information" and start with the basics. Pick where you operate — International, National, Regional, or Local. Then choose who you primarily serve: Individuals, Businesses, Government agencies, Educational institutions, Nonprofit organizations, or Other organizations.

Last, describe your ideal users — the businesses, organizations, or people who benefit most from what you offer.

02

Define customer problems

Add up to 3 of the biggest problems your customers face. Lead with the most important one. Focus on the recurring problems that create the most urgency.

Then describe what your business offers to solve them, in one or two sentences.

03

Define your positioning

Capture why people should choose you. Add up to 3 selling points, starting with your strongest.

Then state what makes your business different, and write your elevator pitch: what you offer, who it's for, and why it matters. Click "Save market profile" when you're done.

04

Keep it up to date

Once saved, your Market page shows everything in one view: market reach, user problems, what you offer, selling points, how you're different, your ideal user profile, and your elevator pitch. Copy pitch grabs your pitch in one click, with a character count to keep it tight. Need a change? Click Edit market.
